 The Local Agency Formation
Commission (LAFCO is a State-created agency which exists in every county
in California except San Francisco.) The Commission is responsible for
working closely with citizens, the county, cities and special districts
on a variety of issues concerning jurisdictional change.
LAFCO's statutory purposes include the discouragement of urban sprawl and the encouragement of orderly governmental boundaries based upon local circumstances and conditions. This Web site is designed to provide you with helpful information in understanding and working with LAFCO. You will find information on all of our policies and standards, our history as an organization, our staff and members, as well as notices of hearings for upcoming meetings and archives of past meeting minutes.
